About Me

Hi, my name is Tyler Beauregard (he/him). I'm a Mathematics PhD student at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. My PhD advisor is Ivo Herzog.

Research Interests

My research interests are mathematical logic and model theory as it applies to theoretical computer science. I like results that have a combinatorial flavor.

I'm interested in how we can compare two seemingly distinct concepts—logical expressibility and computational complexity. Finite model theory provides a framework for understanding how the power of logical languages relates to computational difficulty.

I'm also interested in understanding how model theory applies to machine learning theory, specifically in how important notions in machine learning such as VC-dimesnion and Littlestone-dimension have model-theoretic analogues in NIP structures and stable strucutres respectively.

A side interest of mine is the computational complexity of various puzzles and combinatorial games.
